ISCGB Rehome & Rescue is a totally voluntary service offering assistance and support for pure bred Spinoni nationwide who, for whatever reason, cannot stay in their current home. We are a not for profit operation and rely on donations and fund raising.
We try to help every spinone in need and whilst we do this, sometimes we are not as quick to respond to telephone calls, facebook messages and emails. We are all volunteers and have jobs to go to and family and animals of our own to see to. We work tirelessly behind the scenes organising and doing telephone calls, messages, emails, homechecks, dog checks, transporting, finding foster homes, finding permanent homes, assuring old owners who are often very emotional, making sure new owners are ok in their first few days. This is just a bit of what we do on a daily basis so your patience is appreciated if you need to get in touch.
Our aim is to provide support and advice to owners who can no longer keep their Spinone, regardless of reason, or are having difficulty looking after their dog properly. Sometimes all that is required is advice and support and the dog can remain in its home. Alternatively we will help place the dog in an appropriate, vetted new home.
Many Spinoni we help are purely the victim of circumstance, (usually a significant change in the family situation) and the need for rehoming is through no fault of the dog or owner. If you have a Spinone you must rehome, or if you wish to take on an older Spinone (rather than a puppy), make contact with us and you will be given all the help and support available to make the transition as straightforward as possible for all concerned. The process should, in 99% of cases, mean only one move for the dog, from current to new home, and avoids the upsetting and unsettling ‘in transit’ situation of a rescue centre.
Procedure
If you need to rehome your own dog, we will ask you to complete a detailed questionnaire so that we can learn as much about your dog as possible in order to find it the most appropriate home. When this is received we will start contacting suitable people on our adoption list. We will also arrange for one of our volunteers to meet you and your dog.

If you wish to be considered for a dog, we will ask you to complete a detailed questionnaire. This is to give us an initial idea about the home you are able to offer and the type of dog you are interested in. We will use this information when matching our rehome dogs with prospective owners.
We do not operate on a first come first served basis, some of our adopters are offered a dog soon after registering if their circumstances are suited to a particular dog, others have waited months or even years. Before taking on a dog, one of our volunteers will visit you and your family to complete a home check. We will also ask you for an adoption donation of around £200.
Discretion
Understandably, some owners are very sensitive about having to rehome their dog/s and do not want this to be ‘public knowledge’. Please be assured that each case is dealt with considerately and discreetly. Most often, if news about an individual dog being rehomed becomes public it is as a result of the owner letting this be known, not ISCGB Rehome & Rescue.

If you are fortunate enough to be offered and accept a dog into your home, we ask that you refrain from putting too much information on social media until a reasonable amount of time has passed. It is very difficult to have to rehome a much loved dog and we try very hard to maintain a confidential and discreet operation to minimise any distress.
Income and Donations
Whilst our primary motivation is always to find the best new ‘home for life’ for each dog it is also important to keep in mind that ISCGB Rehome & Rescue cannot operate without funds in the kitty. So we rely on the support and generosity of owners who have used the service either to rehome their Spinone or acquire a new Spinone and who wish to acknowledge the help they have received. However, we are grateful to everyone who donates, in whatever way, to ensure that the important support mechanism that is ISCGB Rehome & Rescue remains in place for the breed now and in the future.
