The ISCGB Cancer Survey is underway. Its purpose is to find cancers that occur in Spinone and to see if there is a hereditary basis for any of them. We welcome responses from Spinone past/present and from anywhere in the world. Click this message to take part.

About The Breed

Thinking of owing a Spinone?  We can offer you advice and support to help you decide if they are the breed for you. Remember they are a working gundog and need plenty of mental and physical exercise. In this section you will find a brief history of the Spinone, the Italian and UK breed standards, and things to consider when acquiring your Spinone. Our Puppy Register Co-ordinator can put you in touch with experienced owners throughout the UK so that you can meet adult dogs before you get smitten by the charms of a cute puppy.  They don't stay like that for long and it is important that you realise what you are taking on as this is long term commitment.

Breed Standards

Click on the links below to read the Italian and UK breed standards.  The Italian standard goes into a lot more detail than the UK standard and provides a greater insight into the finer points of the breed.

Database Search

We provide a comprehensive database of pedigree information for the Italian Spinone.
Our databases are created and managed in the UK, and fall within EU Database Directive protection. They are provided for personal use only and all users who access any of our database information are bound under contract not to re-use such data.

Every effort is made to ensure our data is accurate and we would appreciate any omissions / errors being reported so that they may be corrected.

Hip Scores and CA Test results that have been published in the BRS and on the AHT website respectively will be updated by us on a quarterly basis. Health tests undertaken outside these two schemes will not be automatically updated.  If you would like them included you will need to send a copy of the relevant certificate(s) to This email address is being protected from spambots. Buying

In this section you will find some articles about buying (or not buying) a spinone. These should help you in your search and don't forget to contact our Puppy Register Co-ordinator Alix Johnson on 01264 781913, or email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Sometimes we may not be able to reply straight away so please be patient if you don't get an instant response. Alix can put you in touch with experienced owners so that you can meet some adult dogs before being seduced by that puppy.

Spinone Cross Breeds

Fortunately we don't often see Spinoni crossed with other breeds. If you do happen to come across them and are tempted, please read the articles here before making up your mind.  They are often marketed very skilfully so do your research carefully.
